The goal of Vic Coffin Karate is to provide quality instruction in the way of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo. We provide an atmosphere where students will learn discipline through authentic traditional training. We give the student awareness and preparation in the art of self defense that will provide value throughout their lifetime.
My name is Victor D. Coffin and I am a ninth degree black belt in Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo, as taught by the late Grand Master, Seikichi Odo. I have been practicing the art of karate since 1958. I have my own school and have taught consistently since 1974 in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. I am a combat veteran of Vietnam, having served in the United States Marine Corps. My focus of study at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro was physical education.
Our program is designed to assist students in becoming the best they can be at being themselves through karate training. Our goal is to provide quality instruction in the way of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo. We provide an atmosphere where students will learn discipline, self confidence and assurance that is brought out of the student through traditional training. Our school provides the student with skills of awareness and preparation in the art of self defense that will provide value throughout the student’s lifetime.
It has been my passion since surviving Vietnam to help men, women and children to become the best that they can be, and to realize the value they have as human beings. I have observed students from all backgrounds with varying degrees of physical and mental abilities grow into confident, well-mannered, and well-disciplined people, whom anyone would be proud to be associated with. We do all this through consistent physical training that is challenging mentally as well as physically.
I believe that our program would greatly benefit any potential student, from children eager with enthusiasm, to people who have been broken by the circumstances that life offers. We begin by introducing the student to physical training that will begin to produce results quickly. We have observed that once a person is able to accomplish even the smallest of goals, confidence begins to emerge. Not only does the physical body begin to become stronger, but the mental self-image one has begins to improve, as well.
Thank you for considering our modest school in your quest for martial arts training.
